Built by students, made for students! Mr. Rogers’s Ag students have been putting their skills to work, building wooden picnic tables that will become a new outdoor lunch area for our seniors.
From measuring and cutting to assembling the finished tables, students were able to take what they’re learning in the shop and turn it into something that will be used right here at West Carroll. Hands-on learning with a finished product the whole school can appreciate. Great work, Ag students!

Choices Matter.
Our Junior and Senior classes recently heard from guest speaker Brittany Leedham, who shared her personal story and challenged students to think about the very real consequences that can come from reckless and impaired driving. Following Brittany’s presentation, students participated in hands-on activities demonstrating how impairment can affect coordination, reaction time, judgment, and driving ability.
Thank you to Brittany and the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for bringing the Choices Matter program to West Carroll and reminding our students that the decisions they make behind the wheel matter.

YOU’RE IN! It was an exciting day for West Carroll seniors as students logged into the TN Direct Admissions portal and discovered which Tennessee colleges, universities, community colleges, and TCATs have already offered them admission!
Through TN Direct Admissions, eligible Tennessee seniors can receive personalized admission offers from participating schools without completing separate traditional applications or paying application fees. Students can also receive estimated financial aid information to help them begin comparing their options and planning what comes next.
For our seniors, today was another step toward life after West Carroll, and seeing that “YOU’RE IN!” message made it a pretty exciting one. Next up: exploring their options, comparing opportunities, and deciding where their paths will take them!

September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Every school day matters. Regular attendance is about more than keeping up with assignments. Being at school gives students opportunities to learn, connect with others, access support, and build habits that will serve them long after graduation.
Why does attendance matter?
Better Grades: Students who attend regularly are more likely to stay on track academically and succeed in the classroom.
Stronger Friendships: Being at school gives students opportunities to build social skills, develop friendships, and feel connected to their school community.
Access to Support: School connects students with important resources, including meals, counseling, tutoring, teachers, and other adults who are here to help.
Lifelong Habits: Showing up consistently helps students develop responsibility, confidence, resilience, and habits that carry into college, careers, and adulthood.
We also know there are real barriers that can make regular attendance difficult. Transportation, health concerns, housing instability, access to resources, and other challenges can all play a role. Supporting good attendance takes all of us: schools, families, and our community.
This September, let's work together to help our students show up, stay connected, and succeed.

⛳ A Strong Finish to the Regular Season
West Carroll Golf wrapped up its regular season last night at Carroll Lake Golf Club in McKenzie, where we also recognized our seniors, Mackenzie Finley and Jack Robinson, alongside their parents.
Despite a season filled with heat advisory cancellations, the Eagles were still able to compete in 10 matches this year. We’re proud of the work these golfers and Coach Jason Martin have put in all season.
But the season isn’t over yet! The Eagles head to Milan on Monday, September 21, for the District Match.
Congratulations to our seniors on their final regular-season match, and good luck to our Eagles at District! 🦅⛳

❤️ Grandparents Day Luncheon at West Carroll Elementary ❤️
West Carroll Elementary had a wonderful time celebrating some of the most special people in our students’ lives during our Grandparents Day Luncheon on September 11th!
The luncheon was a wonderful opportunity for our students to spend quality time with their grandparents while creating special memories together. We are so thankful for the support our grandparents give to our students each day.

West Carroll High School is partnering with Bethel University's Global Studies program and will be traveling to Costa Rica this spring break! This opportunity is open to students, faculty, and community members. Students have the opportunity to earn dual credit through Bethel. Scholarship opportunities are also available to students. If you are interested in joining us, we will have an informational meeting on Monday, September 24, at 5:30 in the WCHS library.
Boo Bash is back! Join us for one of our favorite fall traditions on Monday, October 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the WCHS parking lot!
Boo Bash is a free community event open to all ages, with trunk-or-treat, costume contests, games, music, food trucks, haunted classrooms, and plenty of Halloween fun for the whole family!

Two minutes faster in just his second race of the season!
West Carroll senior Brody Baker showed exactly what hard work and determination can do, cutting two full minutes off his race time as he continues his final cross-country season as a War Eagle.
Brody and the Cross-Country War Eagles had extra support along the course, with a dedicated West Carroll fan showing up to cheer them on.
Keep pushing, Brody! We’re proud of you.
Be sure to come out and support the War Eagles at their next meet on Sept. 15th at Lexington, and again on Sept. 22nd in Huntingdon!

Learning the Doubling Rule Through Snakes and Ladders
Ms. Krystle’s 2nd grade class turned spelling practice into an exciting game of Snakes and Ladders! Students practiced words that follow the doubling rule when adding suffixes, all while having fun with their classmates. As they moved around the game board, students read words, applied spelling rules, and worked together to strengthen their skills. The hands-on activity made learning interactive and engaging while giving students an opportunity to practice an important spelling concept in a fun way. With every roll of the dice, students were learning, laughing, and cheering each other on. "These types of games motivate and encourage the students to have fun while learning," stated Mrs. Krystle.

High School Softball tryouts will be held October 1st & 2nd, 3:30pm-5:30pm at the West Carroll High School softball field.
Anyone interested must sign up in the front office and have a current physical on file.
Also, make sure to bring cleats, glove, a bat, helmet, and water.
Any questions, ask Coach Cindy, Coach Macey, or Coach Dalton.

West Carroll students had the opportunity to be part of an exciting moment for our local community this week as they attended the Trezevant Solar Farm “Flip the Switch” event!
Hosted by the Carroll County Electric Department and Silicon Ranch, the event marked the official opening of the Trezevant Solar Farm.
Students were able to visit an operating solar energy facility and get a firsthand look at an industry that connects energy, technology, agriculture, business, and skilled careers right here in our district. Students were given a chance to see how what they learn in the classroom connects to real businesses, careers, and developments happening in their own communities.

Calling all future War Eagle drummers! West Carroll’s Little Drummers Clinic is coming up for students in grades K-4! Participants will have the chance to learn from our West Carroll band program and then show off what they’ve learned with a halftime performance on October 9.
Clinic Dates: September 28 and October 7
Cost: $20 per student
